Senior Fashion Show: Le Petit Prince
Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Le Petit Prince, my senior collection explores children's costumes with influences from contemporary children's fashion. The development process spanned six months of design iteration, followed by an additional three months of refinement to finalize the products. I utilized a variety of techniques, including hand sketches and renderings, fashion forecasting research through WGSN, concept research via Pinterest and fashion history texts, and mood board creation in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I also developed technical flats in Adobe Illustrator, technical packages using Microsoft Excel and OPTITEX, and drafted patterns both by hand and in OPTITEX. The final construction phase involved leading a team of five seamstresses, delegating tasks, and managing the production timeline leading up to the show.
It was a privilege to collaborate with my models and colleagues to bring these designs to life. As Le Petit Prince is my favorite story and has influenced several of my past projects, I look forward to revisiting this collection and continuing to refine my design process, creating more costumes inspired by Saint-Exupéry’s work in the future.
