a mIDSUMMER nIGHT'S Shakesqueer
As a final project for my undergraduate script analysis course, I examined the concept of lgbtq+ culture in the context of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. I then created character themes and mood boards for half the lovers and the central fairy characters. In my analysis and casting concepts, I determined all of the fairies to be polyamorus, panromantic pansexuals, and that Hermia is a biromantic bisexual who presents outwardly as a femme lipstick lesbian, while Helena in comparison is a demiromantic, sex-positive asexual. All of the fairies outfits would incorporate some kind of multicolored, plaid flannel textile, while Hermia and Helena's dress would incorporate the colors of their respective PRIDE flags.
This was a concept I would like to explore further, and will likely take to rendering production at some point in the future. If you're curious to read my analysis paper on the topic, the link is provided below to a PDF copy.
